General and Cosmetic Dentistry Under One Roof Offers Many Advantages

The doctors and staff at Blue Ridge Dental Center – a leading Maple Grove and Minnetonka, MN dental practice take great pride in providing a wide range of dental services under one roof. This way, it’s rarely necessary to refer patients to other dental specialists. Not only does this save patients time but it also conveniently keeps all our patients’ dental care within one practice.

The Minnetonka and Maple Grove dentists working at Blue Ridge Dental Center provide compassionate, comprehensive dental services to patients of all ages. Whether you’re interested in Maple Grove MN cosmetic dentistry to have your teeth whitened and brightened or are in need of an Invisalign provider for your teenager, our team of dental professionals works hard to provide you with a wide variety of services geared toward children, teens and adults. Among the general & cosmetic dentistry services we offer includes:

Teeth Whitening – We offer two types of teeth whitening – In-office Zoom! whitening and Day White take-home tooth whitening. Both are designed to considerably whiten stained and discolored teeth.

BondingCosmetic bonding is used to fix or repair chipped or cracked teeth, to hide discoloration or faded areas and to reduce gaps or spaces between teeth.

VeneersVeneers are great for improving the appearance of your smile. These thin semi-translucent “shells” which attach to the Imagesurface of front teeth are used to close spaces between teeth and to improve the appearance of crooked, misshapen, stained, broken or chipped teeth. Veneers can even help you avoid orthodontic treatment.

Tooth Extractions – It may be necessary to extract a tooth that has decayed significantly or when trauma has damaged a tooth beyond repair. Impacted wisdom teeth also may need to be extracted as do some teeth which have been affected by gum disease.

Fillings – Our Maple Grove dentists use both tooth-colored and silver fillings to restore teeth back to their natural appearance.

Dental ImplantsDental implants are artificial tooth replacements that are permanently anchored into the jawbone to replace missing teeth.

Crowns & Bridges – A crown is sometimes referred to as a “cap” and is designed to fit over a tooth that is either decayed, damaged or cracked. Crowns strengthen, restore and improve the appearance of natural teeth. Crowns can be made from different materials such as porcelain, gold, acrylic resin or a mix of these materials.

A bridge is a dental device designed to fill a space that a tooth previously occupied. There are several types of dental bridges available and which type is used is dependent upon the problem being addressed.

Root Canal Treatment – When a tooth is badly decayed or infected wherein the nerve of the tooth is involved, root canal treatment may be performed to repair and save the tooth. While many people think that root canals are very uncomfortable to sit through, they are actually very similar to having a cavity filled.

We’re always accepting new patients at our Maple Grove & Minnetonka, MN dental practice. To set up a consultation for you or your child, please fill out the appointment request form that’s found on our main website here.

Valentine’s Day Recipes from Blue Ridge Dental Center

Thank you for choosing Blue Ridge Dental Center as your local Minnetonka and Maple Grove, MN dentists! To show how much we love our patients this week, we have decided to share our favorite dentist-approved Valentine’s Day recipes!

Instead of indulging in hard conversation hearts or sticky chocolate covered caramels, try making one of these delicious recipes that are kid-friendly and good for your teeth!

Sweet Cream Cheese Filled StrawberriesImage

Mix up the standard chocolate covered strawberries this Valentine’s Day with these delicious cream cheese filled ones! What you’ll need for this recipe is:

  • 1 large box of strawberries
  • 1 8oz package of cream cheese softened
  • ½ cup of powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • A paring knife or stem remover

To assemble, remove all stems from the strawberries carefully using your paring knife or stem remover. Remove some of the inside of the strawberry and carefully cut the bottom of the strawberry to allow it to stand upright.

Next, combine the cream cheese, vanilla and powdered sugar in a stand mixer and bet until smooth and creamy. Transfer the cream cheese mixer into a piping bag or Ziploc with the tip cut off. Pipe the cream cheese into the strawberry centers with a pretty swirl and you’re done!

Red Velvet Milkshake

Red Velvet cakes and cupcakes are very popular right now, so why not turn this trendy treat into a delicious frozen shake! What you’ll need:

  • ½ cup milk of choice
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 cup vanilla ice cream
  • 3 tbs. red velvet cake mix (such as Duncan Hines or Betty Crocker)
  • Toppings of choice (whipped cream, strawberries or sprinkles)

Combine all of the above ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a glass and serve with toppings of choice! Yum!

At Blue Ridge Dental, your local Minnetonka and Maple Grove, MN dentist office, we want all of our patients to enjoy some tasty Halloween treats without suffering from the dental repercussions of a sugar over-load! This is why the doctors at Blue Ridge Dental have decided to provide our patients with some healthy and fun alternatives to hard candies and caramels that can cause cavities and tooth decay. Check out one of our favorite Halloween recipes below!

Banana Ghosts & Clementine Pumpkins!

Some of our favorite Halloween treats are the ones that use fruit and vegetables to create something kid-friendly and dentist approved! Our banana ghosts and clementine pumpkins are a great way to celebrate Halloween without having to worry about your child’s cavities!

What you will need:

-Bananas peeled and cut in half (as many as you would like to make, 10 bananas will make 20 ghosts)

-A bag of mini and regular chocolate chips

-A bag of peeled clementines

-Celery sticks cut into small stems

To assemble your spooky banana ghosts, simply take your cut bananas and place two mini chocolate chips as eyes with one large chocolate chip underneath as the mouth. You can be creative and decorate your ghosts however you wish! Try adding melted white or dark chocolate to make eerie details on your ghosts!

To create your pumpkins, simply peel your clementines and place a celery stick stem at the top of the clementine where all of the pieces come together.

Last but not least, add your finished ghosts and pumpkins to a fun fall serving platter and place them on the table for kids to enjoy! We guarantee these will be a great healthy hit at your next Halloween get together!

Keeping Up with Dental Care During the Summer

Summer has finally arrived and with vacations, summer camps and continuous family Imageactivities on the rise, keeping up with your child’s dental care can be very difficult. This is why the doctors and Blue Ridge Dental, your local Minnetonka and Maple Grove dental practice, have decided to share some helpful tips on how to properly care for your child’s teeth during the summer months!

Pack Healthy Snacks

Things sure are heating up in Minnesota and what better way to cool down than with some healthy, dentist approved summer treats! For a healthy alternative to ice cream, try freezing grapes and blueberries and giving them to your child during the hot days of summer. This low-calorie treat is high in Vitamin C and is a great way to cool off!

Make Food Fun For Kids

Need a fun idea for a summer kids party that your Minnetonka and Maple Grove dentists will approve of? Then try making these cute fruit caterpillars!  To assemble simply take a wooden skewer and 5 green grapes. Place each of the grapes on the skewer and finish the caterpillar off with a strawberry head. Complete the look with two dots of white frosting or Greek yogurt and mini chocolate chip eyeballs (see photo for finished product)

Another fun dessert that kids can help assemble is a Jell-O aquarium! To make your Jell-O aquarium you will need a box of blue Jell-O and fish shaped fruit snacks (ie. Swedish Fish, gummy sharks or octopuses, or Finding Nemo snacks!) Make the Jell-O according to the box and add your gummy fish throughout the clear cups (see image for finished product).  This snack is great on a hot day and can be made using sugar free Jell-O for a healthy dessert alternative!

Don’t Forget to Brush & Floss Daily

While your child may be busy at summer camp it is still important to remind your child to brush and floss at least twice a day. It is important that your child’s toothbrush is the proper size according to their age. The dentists at Blue Ridge Dental Center recommend using a soft-bristled toothbrush, either manual or electric, with a small strip of fluoride toothpaste. Visit our website for more home care brushing and flossing tips.

Above all it is important to schedule an appointment at your local Maple Grove and Minnetonka dentist office. Blue Ridge Dental is always accepting new patients at our two office locations. To make an appointment please fill out our appointment request form online or contact us today! Have a happy summer and we look forward to seeing you and your child soon!
